Kayla's first dance recital was on Saturday and she did a great job!! It was a long day and despite having to sit through over an hour of other dancers (while sitting without her parents) she got up there and did a great tap dance to "Yankee Doodle". I am so proud of her. I think I was more nervous than her, at one point I even thought I was going to get sick, it was torture sitting through the 20 acts leading up to hers (despite my love for watching dance).. I just kept wondering what she was thinking as she sat there alone with her class and wondering if she was going to get too scared to do it. She did it though and was so excited afterwards (which makes me even happier!!). We watched the video 4 times the next day and she had the biggest smile on her face each time.
At home before the show.

She did it and was soooo excited!!

....put a feather in his hat and called it macaroni....

Posing with her cousin Grace after show.. Grace also did an awesome job in her hip hop dance to "Move It".

The title of this post has a little more meaning to it. When I was younger my mother had made a video tape (nearly 2 hours of my best dance performances) and titled it "Kim Davey - Star Dancer". I now know what my mom went through while watching my hundreds of dance performances (thanks mom for enduring all of that!!).. I bet she was always just as anxious, nervous and as proud as I was. She would have loved to see the little beaner's debut performance and I am sure she was smiling down on Kayla and I that day!
